To substantiate theforegoing, this dissertation aims to provide an empirical approach to how Spanishstudents learn English interrogative determiners and if the grammatical featuresassociated to these determiners affect the way these students understand them. Inthe experiment, L1 Spanish students of English are tested to choose the correctinterrogative determiner to prove if they understand the difference between whatand which as interrogative determiners. The results show that the way thesestructures [What + N / Which + N] are taught is not successful as the students’ donot distinguish when to use one determiner or the other, which leads to concludethat more attention should be paid to the teaching of these structures.
