More particularly, the focus lies on the use of interrogative clauses in character dialogue and the importance of motivation itself in character construction and development. Illustrations from several canonical literary works will be provided so as to rehearse this mode of textual analysis, which we believe can provide a potentially useful framework to approach narrative fiction from the point of view of humanistic psychology.
