This approach is especially interesting when studying juridical texts, as they are both shaped by and shapers of society. For this reason, this dissertation aims at investigating how two English juridical texts of the European Union related to language policies and their translations into Spanish do have a reciprocal relationship with the societies that surrounds them. To do this, the texts will be analysed following a sociological and a linguistic approach. The results show that effectively there is a mutual feedback in the original and/or target text-society binomial, as the society feeds the content of the juridical texts of the EU and simultaneously and in return, those texts exert an influence on the European countries as members of the Union.
