AB The present study aims to analyze the strategies employed by different translators for the translation of proper names in literary works. Based on three works of contemporary literature in German, it will analyze the double Spanish translations of each, allowing us to understand, firstly, the techniques used in the translation of proper names by translators, each of the translation doublets, and then to extrapolate the results to all three doublets, to see if there are any diachronic aspects which distinguish the second translations (TM2) from the first translations (TM1), that is, if there is any relationship between the TM1 and TM2 analyzed. The analysis of the behavior of the six translators is preceded by a reflection which provides answers to several questions related to the idiosyncratic properties of proper names and special treatment in Translation.
