For these reasons, it is necessary to transition the economic model towards a model in which raw materials remain as long as possible within the production cycle, which means that waste from one process can be used as components of another, this model is the Circular Economy. In addition to taking advantage of waste, in order to reduce society's environmental impact, it is necessary to develop renewable energy sources such as biomass, which can be burned to obtain electrical and thermal energy and whose net carbon balance is zero. In recent years there has been an increase in the development of biomass plants in Spain and therefore in the production of biomass ash as a waste from these plants. These residues can be partial substitutes for the cement and aggregates that make up concrete, giving rise to eco-efficient concretes with a lower carbon footprint than conventional ones. This Master's thesis studies the reduction of emissions associated with the use of biomass ashes in eco-efficient concretes using SimaPro software by applying the Life Cycle Analysis methodology achieving savings in CO2 emissions of 12.4 kg/m3 (i.e., 10%).
