Facultad de Ciencias K1 Truncaciones K1 Límite de las galaxias K1 Perfiles de brillo superficial AB A photometric study of galaxy disk images is carried out in this final degree project , creating theirobserved surface brightess, Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) restframe surface brightness and mass profiles. The main goal of our study is the detection of some features in the flux/brightness profile for a selectionof galaxies that can lead into the so-called Truncations or galactic ”boundaries”. The galaxies images wereobtained from the most modern galaxy surveys like Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey or Sloan DigitalSky Survey .I also present the theoretical context to motivate the physical background for this project. Several conceptssuch as Redshift, Black-Body radiation and Magnitude system take a big part in this project. Furthermore, acomputational method is presented, consisting on an elliptical brightness integration of flux. Other methodscan also be applied consisting in a radial integration [1].It is to note that, to achieve the aims of this work, I had to modify or write a number of computerprograms in Python, as well as reading specific literature in Astrophysics. Finally, as a proof of concept, ananalysis of 3 different galaxies is performed, 2 of them being classified as “Relic Galaxies”.
