AB This paper illustrates the difficulties encountered in translating an Accounting Self-Study Manual and the different ways of dealing with them. I have applied the translation processes proposed by Newmark. The translation tools I have used to approach my work are parallel texts, term extractors, dictionaries and terminology databases. The problems faced during the translation process are discussed and classified according to the required process. The analysis of the terminology is a fundamental part of the work as it is one of the major translation problems. I obtained a list of candidate terms through TermoStat and after cleaning the noise, I organized the accounting terms in a database including linguistic information. Based on the results, the processes and tools used in translation have been very useful, but there are far more to discover.
