AB Postmodernism in literature seeks to create new forms since it considers that everything has already been invented. For this reason, retellings arose, which are reinterpretations of previous works. This project will explain what masculinities consist of and what their objective is, in addition to showing what gender roles and stereotypes are attributed to men in fairy tales. Therefore, after an comparison between the male characters of four fairy tales in their original version and their respective postmodern versions, we will proceed to conclude if the theories that seek to blur rigid gender roles have achieved their goal in postmodern retellings or, on the contrary, the princes continue to maintain them in their physical appearance and behavior.
