As a result, thousands of women and men (to alesser extent) were victims of the witch hunts in Europe, which also translated to NewEngland. The following dissertation aims to discover and compare in which ways thestereotype of the early modern period is represented in the films The Witch and Akelarre.Following a thorough analysis of the characteristics of the witches in both films, light willbe shed on how accurate the stereotype of the witch is represented in these, as well ashow culture represents traditional imagery of witchcraft in contemporary society.
