AB The title of a literary work is one of the most important parts that must be translatedadequately. The translation of literary titles from English into Spanish is not a topic thathas been studied in depth previously although it is agreed that titles are a type of text and,as such, it should deserve more attention in the Translation Studies field. This finaldissertation focuses on the analysis of the translation of literary titles from English intoSpanish considering two different factors: the translation techniques used by translatorsand the textual functions each title has in the literature market. With this in mind, we havedeveloped a corpus that includes 111 literary works which have been classified accordingto these two variables of analysis. The results of this study illustrate how the most usedtranslation technique is the literal translation which is usually associated to the descriptivetextual function.
