It examines how thevisual imagery and techniques that came from the acknowledgedaudiovisual and pictorial sources of this ballet enteredinto his choreography. It also reveals that paintings byFrancisco de Goya are highly probable, but previouslyunacknowledged, sources of the ballet. A final reflectionconsiders the tableau vivant as a choreographic technique foran image-based effect.
