Negozio Gavina A1 Grijalba Bengoetxea, Alberto A1 Grijalba Bengoetxea, Julio K1 tiempo fragmento memoria proceso arquitectura K1 time fragment, heritage, sketch, process AB Moneo and Cortes select the drawings of the floorplans and the sketches for the Negozio Gavina, 1961–63 by Carlo Scarpa, a project in which the idea of a fragment sets up a whole, to include them in the book Comments on 20 drawings by current architects.Scarpa transmits in these sketches the idea that the fragments possess a unity of their own while at the same time they are capable of keeping an intact memory of the irredeemably lost order of the model, that we regard as completely impossible to be reconstructed. In the sketches we discover the traces of a creation process that remain etched in the building. It represents the acknowledging of time and personal memory as the architect’s work material and their graphic representation. The nature, the position, the materiality and display of the five columns that make up the space are a very good example.
