Among all of them, the one that has been considered as the main focus of this paper is the Total Physical Response (TPR). The main features of this teaching method, as well as its relation to linguistic input, listening skills, kinaesthetic learning styles and strategies for the EFL classroom, are addressed. Taking this into account, the second part of this paper presents an analysis of a set of TPR activities that were part of a lesson sequence implemented in a Year 1 EFL classroom of a Secondary Education school. The purpose is to analyse if TPR results effectively in the acquisition of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Notwithstanding the different areas of improvement and variants of some of the activities, the results indicate that TPR is more effective than other teaching methods for first graders of Secondary Education.
