Every day we have new diagnostic and therapeutic advances in oncological diseases, which means better treatment for patients and therefore an increase in their life expectancy, which has been associated with the increasing prevalence of patients with neoplasms and is progressively increasing. The literature shows that cancer patients experience a notable decline in their quality of life compared to the general population that may be caused not only by the disease process itself and its evolution, but also from the often arduous effects of cancer treatments endured throughout their lives. The main objective of this project is to analyse the influence of different clinical and psychological variables on the impairment of quality of life in patients with advanced cancer undergoing chemotherapy. The aim is to explore the role of coping strategies, resilience, social support and spiritual well-being in reducing the psychological distress of cancer patients. In addition, we want to assess the impact of the doctor-patient relationship on the perception of good health care.As a hypothesis, we expect to find that clinical, socio-demographic and psychological variables are directly related to a detriment in the quality of life of oncology patients by acting as predictors of psychological distress.Furthermore, we propose that a good therapeutic alliance with the oncologist is associated with increased satisfaction regarding provided information, more trust with the doctor and greater desire of the patient to receive information about the prognosis of their disease.
