AB The main objective of the thesis is the identification, analysis and interpretation of the ideas, discourses, phases, sequences, patterns and routines of the urban heritage protection policy in Colombia. It is intended to specify the origin, evolution and urbanistic effects through the urbanistic analysis and the study of the legal framework for the historic centers declared of Cultural Interest at the national level, in the period between 1954 and 2019, from the perspective of Historical Institutionalism. In the second half of the twentieth century, in Colombia, cultural heritage acquires a relevant position in the shaping of national identity. Urban heritage is circumscribed in it, whose origin and positioning is given in the midst of a process of transformation and modernization of the city of the last century and the first decades of the 21st century.
