AB This paper tries to analyse the foreign language learning and acquisition of the English language in adults, as well as their skills and motivations to learn a second language in adulthood. Thus, the spreading and evolution of the English language in a globalized and competitive world demonstrate how a bilingual person, especially one who speaks English as a second language, gains an advantage over those who only speak their mother tongue. For this purpose, a didactic proposal, mainly focused on the communicative approach, has particularly been designed for the teaching of English to adults. Moreover, a theoretical framework based on how adults acquire a second language, and different methods to teach and learn English, will support the final goal.
