In this context, hydrogen emerges asa promising energy vector due to its high energy content and minimal environmental impact, producing only water vapor upon combustion. This study investigates the economic feasibilityof producing biohydrogen through dark fermentation using brewery spent grain (BSG) as asubstrate. Biohydrogen production from BSG not only provides a sustainable energy source butalso contributes to circular economy principles by valorizing industrial waste.Experimental data were obtained from studies involving pretreated BSG and amesophilic inoculum subjected to thermal shock to inhibit methanogenic activity. The analysisconsidered various production scales, from pilot to industrial levels, and evaluated theeconomic viability in terms of production costs, investment, and potential profits. The resultsindicate that the use of BSG for biohydrogen production is promising. However, technicalchallenges remain, particularly in optimizing yield and reducing costs. Future research shouldfocus on improving process efficiency and scaling up production to meet commercial viabilityrequirements YR 2024 FD 2024 LK https://uvadoc.uva.es/handle/10324/71200 UL https://uvadoc.uva.es/handle/10324/71200 LA spa NO Departamento de Ingeniería Química y Tecnología del Medio Ambiente DS UVaDOC RD 03-mar-2025
