AB The United States of America was the hegemonic power in the world during the course of thetwentieth century and it has remained as such so far in the early twenty-first century, even thoughsigns of its decline have been commented upon. In the present study the aim is to enunciate thediscursive, material and historical conditions that saw America rise to be the preeminent politicalplayer on the world stage as well as the strategies that they employed to achieve this political status.Having assessed these conditions and strategies, the ultimate objective will be to provide a rationalefor the trajectory that the United States has followed until the present day and where they and theworld under their hegemony may be headed.
