This study explores how these poets capture the brutal realities and emotional toll of the First World War. Sasson and Owen, both poet-soldiers, provide vivid accounts from the front lines, taking special interest on highlighting the brutality and futility of war. Meanwhile, Kipling and Cole offer the perspective of the home front, reflecting on social impacts and personal loss caused by the conflict. Additionally, the dissertation examines the poetic techniques and style choices employed by the poets to convey their message. This project emphasizes poetry´s capacity to serve as a historical record, capturing the experiences of a time period and providing insights into the human condition during the time. Ultimately the dissertation asserts the value of poetry as a means to chronicle and reflect upon historical events.
