This gives them great didactic and geotouristic potential. These sites are not of high scientific value at an international, national, or regional scale, but they hold local value due to their connection to the territory, environmental and cultural heritage, and their link to the populations that inhabit them, especially in Natural Protected Areas (NPAs) where there is already recognition of natural heritage but not of abiotic natural heritage. Therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to recognize the geomorphological heritage, for which geomorphological maps and an inventory of geomorphosites have been developed in the Sierras de la Paramera and la Serrota and in the Cañón del Río Lobos. The potential of geomorphosites is currently hindered by the lack of recognition of geographic education and geotourism in Spain, particularly in Castilla y León, where there is a lack of proper integration of geomorphosites in the planning of NPAs. This thesis proposes a methodology for evaluating the potential use of inventoried geomorphosites, focusing on their didactic and geotouristic potential. The didactic potential of geomorphosites can be assessed based on their alignment with established geographical concepts, specifically geomorphology, for teaching purposes. One of the objectives of this thesis is to propose a didactic potential evaluation method that can help incorporate field trips and abiotic natural heritage into formal education, which has not been considered in previous evaluation methods. The analysis of educational legislation in Spain, Italy, and Switzerland has shown that the method is useful and applicable in any country, regardless of its educational system. Furthermore, the use and planning of geomorphosites with a geotouristic focus in NPAs can diversify visits, relieving congestion in popular areas by offering visits to geomorphosites. The incorporation of geomorphological elements in NPAs management is essential to ensure their protection from potential visitor overcrowding and infrastructure development, as well as to ensure the cultural service's sustainability for local communities and visitors. With two well-differentiated study areas, various activities and proposals have been carried out to promote this geomorphological heritage, based on the current uses and needs of each space. On one hand, the Sierras de la Paramera and la Serrota, with 12 geomorphosites of medium or high value, but without any tourist or educational infrastructure, where the first step is necessarily the evaluation of their potential, the study of their geomorphological heritage, and dissemination activities to enhance their value in this area. On the other hand, the Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park, with 14 LIGm and a well-established natural tourism that lacks interpretive elements related to geomorphology, which focuses on the most scenic spots. Georoutes have been designed and proposed here that connect and explore the inventoried geomorphosites, which are useful for disseminating their geomorphology and promoting sustainable public use through the diversification of the tourism offer.
