We begin, firstly, by analyzing the process of genesis and destruction of the idea of progress as an immanent structure of meaning in human history. We undertake this task by focusing on the metaphysical background behind the idea of progress, which we will call a metaphysics of power. Jünger’s texts will accompany us in developing a diagnosis and critique of this conception of reality, to understand its relationship with the full technical availability of the real, which, drawing on the conceptual work of our author, we will study as the «total mobilization (totale Mobilmachung).» To conclude the first part, we will establish an analysis of technology as an event, far from any merely instrumental interpretation, which opens what Jünger conceived as a world dominated by titans, in contrast to the transcendent opening to the divine. In the second part, we focus on the description of the titanic world based on Jünger's peculiar phenomenology, which contains an ontological analysis of the technically mobilized world. Here we encounter the concept of «figure (Gestalt),» which plays a central role in Jünger’s intellectual trajectory and in his understanding of the world dominated by the «figure of the worker (Gestalt des Arbeiters).» To delve into this notion, sometimes so obscure in Jünger’s writings, we perform an analysis of its relationship with language in our author's thought. Furthermore, as a further development of this figure of the worker, we discuss the notion of «organic construction (organischen Konstruktion),» with which Jünger accounts for the way in which technology, in the worker’s world, directs its powers towards the total modification of existence. Therefore, we focus on the ethical and anthropological implications of this concept and offer a critique of the technologized world and the objectification of reality based on an analysis of the «heroic realism (heroischer Realismus)» presented by Jünger in his essays from the 1930s. This second part introduces, in its final sections, the emergence of the crisis of meaning that arises in the technologized world, with which a phenomenological investigation of nihilism is presented at the end through the textual exchange that took place between Jünger and Heidegger during the 1960s.We conclude our work with a third part, where we analyze the existential structures in which meaning appears, whether as the transparency of the real or as the absence of all meaning. This last consideration explains why we present an analysis of suffering as the radical absence of meaning, which also clarifies the way in which nihilism appears in existence. After exploring the experience of suffering, we dedicate ourselves to delving into the search for the inexhaustible sources of meaning that Jünger thematizes with the «adventurous heart (das abenteuerliche Herz).» Here, we offer an analysis of the disposition capable of revealing some "extreme moments" of existence, where meaning can occur in the moment (Augenblick) which, for Jünger, is the symbol of the «timeless (Zeitlos)» and of transcendence. The investigation of these regions of existence will lead us to present an interpretation of two figures developed by Jünger—the forest rebel (Waldgänger) and the anarch (Anarch)—where we believe it is possible to find an answer to the mystery of meaning capable of confronting nihilism. These reflections culminate in an investigation of the human interiority as a tabernacle where the permanent possibility of transcendence dwells, which we will finally specify with an analysis of hope as an existential disposition tense towards transcendence that prepares for the emergence of meaning.
