AB The article is divided into two clearly differentiated parts. The first analyses the relationships between image, structure and form in the origin of architraved architecture using architectural orders, and the historical evolution up to Roman architecture of these same relationships, image, structure and form, in relation to wall and vaulted architecture; and their relationship between the two systems, walls and orders. The second part shows how Mies van der Rohe's architecture developed an inverse path, from his initial projects of buildings generated only by walls, to the relationships established between walls and supports, and to the use of only architraved structures of supports, and also the relationship with the image, structure and form of the building.El artículo de muestra en dos partes claramente diferenciadas. La primera analiza las relaciones entre imagen, estructura y forma en el origen de la arquitectura arquitrabada mediante órdenes arquitectónicos, y la evolución histórica hasta la arquitectura romana de esas mismas relaciones, imagen, estructura y forma, respecto a la arquitectura de muros y abovedada; y su relación entre los dos sistemas, de muros y de órdenes. En la segunda parte se muestra el cómo las arquitecturas de Mies van der Rohe desarrolló un recorrido inverso, desde sus proyectos iniciales de edificios generados únicamente mediante muros, a las relaciones que se establecen entre muros y soportes, y al empleo únicamente de estructuras arquitrabadas de soportes, y asimismo la relación con la imagen, estructura y forma del edificio.
