These productions ranged from literary adaptations −Cañas y barro (1978), Fortunata y Jacinta (1980) and Los pazos de Ulloa (1985)− to biographical series −Cervantes (1981), Teresa de Jesús (1984) and Proceso a Mariana Pineda (1984)−, and also narratives set in the contemporaneity of their broadcasting −La señora García se confiesa (1976), El español y los siete pecados capitales (1980), Verano azul (1981), Anillos de oro (1983) and Segunda enseñanza (1986)−. All these series went through the same general stage of content analysis, and then underwent a specific stage according to the specific typology of each production.Based on the results of the research, these TV fictions not only mirrored social change, but also encouraged it by fostering values related initially to consensus and later on to vindication. With respect to gender representation, both male and female portrayals gave way to a broader range of possible identities, although men increasingly showed greater sensitivity whereas, in the case of women, there was still a dual femininity, as well as criticism of the former discrimination they had suffered in the past, be it more distant or more recent.Likewise, this support for the new democratic society and the new representations of gender was not without certain doses of continuity, disguised as costumbrist or outright nostalgic allusions, as well as significant silences and overtures concerning more sensitive issues, such as gender violence, homosexuality or Franco's dictatorship.
