AB Thanks to globalization, cinema has become a worldwide phenomenon, making it common for movies to achieve global popularity. A notable example is the superhero franchise, “Marvel Cinematic Universe”, whose films, recognized worldwide, are characterized by a high content of cultural references and humor. These elements, however, present challenges in the translation processes, as the nuances that add originality to the films may be lost. This undergraduate dissertation will analyze the translation strategies of cultural references, proper names and toponyms and the classification of humor from the source language (English) to the target language (Spanish) in the movie Avengers: Infinity War. To this end, the film’s subtitles will be examined, followed by an analysis of the findings to determine whether viewers from different cultural backgrounds can have a similar experience in terms of entertainment and understanding.
