AB Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a common Internet browsing companion thanks to its data generation prowess. Translating is easier with the available online Machine Translation (MT) systems that use AI to provide fast translations in many language combinations. One of the most popular free MT systems is Google Translate, which includes a wide array of translation features and a vast number of supported languages. Another more recently introduced AI tool is Microsoft Copilot, which works similarly to ChatGPT and can also translate texts in different languages. This paper carries out a comparative translation quality assessment of the two tools, after translating from English to Spanish two different types of texts: a poem and an auditor’s report. The metric used for the evaluation was TAUS’s DFQ-MQM Error Typology approach.
