Using the novel The summer I turned pretty by Jenny Han and its audiovisualadaptation, it aims to foster the students´ linguistic competence and empathy. The didacticproposal designed includes activities that allow students to improve reading and listening skills,vocabulary and grammar in context, and speaking and writing. These skills are improvedthrough the exploration of characters and their plotlines, both in the novel and its screenadaptation. The proposal is based on methodologies that promote student-centered learning andkey competencies such as communicative competence. By integrating a novel and audiovisualmedia into the classroom, the proposal aims to create an engaging learning environment thatsupports meaningful language learning.
