AB The objective of this paper is designing a didactic proposal to develop the benefits of using poetry as a teaching tool in classes of English as a foreign language. With a view of demonstrating this, a variety of poems containing different topics have been selected for students to work with in the classroom. In this way, a variety of moral values will be transmitted to the students through the poems, while at the same time, they will learn vocabulary, literature and history, and improve the 4 language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.In addition, the designed activities will contribute to students´ motivation to participate in class and to explore literature in depth.
