A mixed approach was adopted, combining quantitative and qualitative methods to provide a descriptive and exploratory analysis of this demographic group. A structured questionnaire was administered to 26 women selected from the database of the Association for the Comprehensive Rural Development of Northeast Soria (PROYNERSO), in its Spanish acronym. Subsequently, in-depth interviews were conducted with seven women who were chosen based on their professional background, active role in the community and ability to represent diverse perspectives. The research covered a range of variables, including knowledge of climate change, perceived impacts on lifestyle, adaptation strategies, resilience and mitigation actions. The interviews, conducted after the presentation of the quantitative results, served to explore the issues discussed in greater depth. The study’s findings indicate a widespread concern about the effects of climate change, particularly on agriculture and food security, and a willingness towards sustainable practices. However, the study also identified barriers to the adoption of sustainable practices, including a lack of information and the associated high costs. The study’s findings underline the importance of incorporating a gender perspective into global climate policies, recognizing the strategic role of rural women in promoting more inclusive and effective strategies.
