Based on a literature review of previous studies, the chapter examines the main trends in both the repertoires of collective action and the mainstream media coverage about it. The chapter concludes that the use of social media and other characteristics of these collective actions —individual/collective interrelationships, spontaneity, ephemeral forms of action— configure transactional repertoires of collective action that mediate media coverage, thereby generating a specific kind of transmedia event in which the mediation of the social media-based collective action is central.
