AB In recent decades, business tourism has gained importance as an economic driver of regional development, attracting investment and generating employment in the destination cities where these events are held. The black truffle sector has begun to take advantage of this segment of tourism through the emerging Trufforum business events. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the role that business events play as a platform for disseminating knowledge and revitalizing territories in the context of the black truffle sector. The research approach is based on a mixed methodological design (DEXPLIS), which includes a comprehensive review of the academic literature on the meetings industry and the analysis of two case studies related to the truffle sector, the Trufforum events. The proposed design allows us to discern the most relevant topics and research trends in MICE tourism. The main hypotheses were tested against previously identified patterns using an artificial neural network model, and then explained and reviewed in depth by a panel of experts (living lab). The main findings revolve around three areas: the effects on tourism, the economic impact on regional development, and the training capacity of the MICE industry. The analysis confirms the usefulness of Trufforum events in raising awareness and educating professional and specialized audiences about black truffles, positioning truffle tourism and truffle farming as central vectors of learning, and demonstrating the connection between tourism (truffle tourism) and production (truffle farming), with training and education as their backbone. In light of these results, it is recommended that this type of event be integrated into long-term territorial strategies in order to consolidate a competitive growth model aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
