This implied not only an economic, demographic and otherwise general crisis, but also a specifically political one which, after an armed conflict between both crowns, meant the end of the Crown of Majorca. All these events had important repercussions in the cultural sphere which led to the break of the existing cultural ties among the three territorial organizations within the Majorcan Crown (the Kingdom of Majorca, the counties of Rousillon and the domain of Montpellier). This situation also meant a weakening of the cultural thrust provided in its territories by a monarchy that had ruled on an exclusive basis but which was now replaced by another whose seat of power lay elsewhere. To this we should of course add the decisive contribution of the overall crisis to these events.
