El artículo pasa revista a las emisiones filatélicas que muchos países -esencialmente europeos- han dedicado a la literatura latina, estudia las diversas piezas, tanto desde el punto de vista filológico como arqueológico y artístico, y, sobre todo, intenta dilucidar si los sellos consagrados a la literatura latina son neutros o no desde la perspectiva de los mensajes que transmiten, llegando a la conclusión de que, si bien la mayoría tienen una finalidad simplemente conmemorativa, otros persiguen distintos fines, incluida la propaganda política.
This paper reviews those philatelic issues which many countries, mostly European, have given over to Latin Literature. It also studies the different pieces from several points of view, the philological on the one hand, the archaelogical and artistic on the other. Most of all, it tries to clarify whether those stamps dedicated to Latin Literature are neutral or not from the viewpoint of the messages they transmit, reaching the conclusion that most of them have just a commemorative purpose, but others pursue different objectives, including political propaganda.
