El método gramatical y pedagógico de Port-Royal supuso la recuperación de la antigua doctrina racionalista de la Minerva del Brocense y de sus seguidores Scioppio, Perizonio y Vossio, así como la difusión a partir de finales del XVII del método racionalista en la enseñanza del latín y el griego, además de las lenguas modernas. Progresivamente, el método port-royalista y sus posteriores modificaciones fueron sustituyendo la entonces preponderante enseñanza gramatical jesuítica, basada en un método de inspiración barroca cargado de preceptos, reglas y excepciones. Es nuestro propósito analizar en el presente artículo la contribución del método port-royalista al aprendizaje de la latinidad, además de su posterior influencia, tanto en Francia como en España, en la composición de numerosos tratados gramaticales que determinaron la enseñanza del latín a lo largo del siglo XVIII y parte del XIX.
The grammatical and pedagogical Port- Royal method marked the recovery of the former rationalist doctrine (teaching) by Minerva Brocense and her followers Scioppio, Perizonio, and Vossio,as well as the diffusion of the rationalist method from the end of the XVII to the teaching of Latin and Greek languages, apart from the teaching of modern languages. Progressively, the port-royalist method and its later modifications were replacing the preponderant Jesuit grammar teaching, based in a method inspired by the baroque fraught with precepts, rules and exceptions. It's our purpose in this article analyse the contribution of the port-royalist method to the teaching of Latin, as well as its subsequent influence on the composition of numerous grammatical treatises that determined the Latin teaching throughout the XVII and partly the XIX.
