Desde el marco de referencia de las actitudes lingüísticas, estudiamos el agrado percibido en distintas variedades geográficas de la lengua española por parte de 400 hispanohablantes de Santiago (Chile). Los datos fueron recogidos mediante una encuesta en que se les preguntaba abiertamente a los sujetos por su opinión (método directo). Comparamos estos resultados con los de un trabajo anterior acerca de la corrección percibida en distintas variedades geográficas del español por parte de los mismos sujetos. Nuestros hallazgos revelan que existe coincidencia entre las variedades que les resultan más agradables y aquellas que les parecen más correctas a los santiaguinos (español de España, español peruano y español colombiano). Solo la variedad chilena se aparta de esta tendencia, pues los santiaguinos la perciben como agradable a pesar de que la consideran como la variedad más incorrecta.
Within the framework of language attitudes, we study the degree of pleasantness perceived in geographical varieties of Spanish by 400 Spanish-speaking subjects from Santiago (Chile). Data was collected through a survey in which we asked overtly for their opinion (direct method). We compare these results with those found in a previous paper where the linguistic correctness perceived in geographical varieties by the same group was analyzed. Our findings reveal that the varieties that these subjects find more pleasant are the same that those they perceive as the more correct varieties (Peninsular Spanish, Peruvian Spanish and Colombian Spanish). Chilean Spanish is an exception to this tendency, for it is felt as pleasant despite it is perceived as the least correct variety.
