En este trabajo se analizan los nombres propios atribuidos a los personajes y a los espacios narrativos en Marianela, con el fin de descubrir la relación existente entre el nombre y su referente y los motivos fundamentales de la trama novelesca. La elección onomástica no es fruto de la arbitrariedad, sino que responde a determinados fines. Los nombres de pila, hipocorísticos, patronímicos, sobrenombres, etc. que se despliegan por las páginas de esta pequeña joya literaria indican a menudo, por afinidad o antífrasis, características morales y físicas de los personajes, actitudes y acciones, y representan la clave de un mundo en que el autor expresa sus ideas, pero también sus dudas y esperanzas.
In this paper analyzes the names attributed to the characters and the narrative spaces in Marianela, in order to probe the relationship between the name and its referent and the fundamental reasons for the plot. The onomastic choice made it is not the result of arbitrariness but responds to certain purposes.
