La intención subyacente al presente artículo es definir, dentro de un marco de historia de las ideas, los conceptos de poesía y prosa en la producción de Juan Ramón Jiménez. Partiendo de testimonios del propio Juan Ramón Jiménez, se circunscriben los criterios según los cuales el poeta comprendía la distinción entre poesía y prosa. A continuación, se insertan estos criterios en una perspectiva histórica, usando especialmente la teoría literaria romántica dado que la hibridación del verso y la prosa tiene su origen en este periodo.
The intention underlying the present article is to define, within a frame of history of ideas, the notions of poetry and prose in Juan Ramón Jiménez's output. The article sets off from Jiménez's own testimonies, which are used to circumscribe the criteria according to which the poet understood the difference between poetry and prose. Secondly, these criteria are inserted into a historical perspective, especially using Romantic literary theory since the hybridisation of verse and prose has its origin in this period.
