Este trabajo pretende conocer la influencia que tuvo el periodismo sensacionalista norteamericano en el inicio de la guerra hispano-estadounidense. Para ello, se ha estudiado el marco histórico en el que tuvo lugar dicha guerra y el influjo que ejerce la prensa sensacionalista en la opinión pública. Tras explicar las características de la prensa estadounidense del s. XIX, se ha llevado a cabo un análisis de las portadas que más alentaban la guerra, prestando especial atención al New York Journal y el New York Word, máximos exponentes de la prensa amarillista norteamericana.
This Project aims to know the influence which sensationalistic journalism had in the Spanish-American war. For it has studied the historical frame in which the war took place and the influence that sensationalistic press exerts in the public opinion. After explaining the characteristics of the American press of the 19th century, It has carried out an analysis of the covers which more encouraged the war, paying special attention to the New York Journal and the New York Word, maximum exponents of the sensationalistic press of North America.
