Las condiciones materiales del clero parroquial del obispado de Segovia en el siglo XVIII (II): la realidad de los ingresos y los gastos

Abstract

El autor del presente artículo intenta trazar un cuadro aproximativo de la situación material del bajo clero en el obispado de Segovia durante el siglo XVIII, a fin de constatar si las afirmaciones que frecuentemente se hacen sobre su "miseria" son válidas o hay que matizarlas, cuando no corregirlas. Para ello, analiza los diferentes conceptos que componen la renta global y las cargas que pesan sobre ella, para así evaluar la renta disponible y su inversión.

The author of this work tries to make up an approximate description of the material situation of the parish clergy in Segovia bishopric during the 18th century. He makes this description in order to prove the validity of those statements frequently made about the "poverty" of the parish clergy. If it is necessary, he will revise and correct this idea of poverty. To achieve that, he analyses the different sections of their total income and corresponding taxes, in order to evaluate their available income and investment.
