El presente texto consiste en un somero análisis biográfico, socio-político y económico que nos acerca a los orígenes y a los instrumentos de control social con que contó uno de los apellidos más destacados de la Restauración española, el de Gamazo. Para ello, nos centraremos de un modo especial en el último tercio del siglo XIX y en el personaje articulador de esta familia, a su vez uno de los prohombres más significativos de este período histórico: el vallisoletano diputado a Cortes y ministro liberal en varias legislaturas, Germán Gamazo.
This text consists of a shallow economic, socio-political, and biographic analysis that brings us closer to the origins and social control instruments that were used by one of the most outstanding names of the Spanish Restoration, the name of Gamazo. For this purpose, we are going to pay a special attention to the last third of the nineteenth century and to the main character in the Gamazo family, one of the most significant leaders of this historical period: the parliamentary deputy for Valladolid and liberal minister in several legislatures, Germán Gamazo.
