La edición castellana de doce tomos de la Encyclopedia Metódica es una empresa tan notable como desatendida. Una primera visión de ellos y, en particular, un resumen detallado de los de Fábricas, artes y oficios, evidencia los intereses prioritarios a finales del reinado de Carlos III: la aparición misma de esta Encyclopedia es buen índice de la defensa de la práctica. El esbozo de cierta cultura técnica se refleja en un interesante enciclopedismo español, que no había sido abordado y que la nueva historia del libro permite valorar hoy mejor.
The Spanish edition of the Encyclopedia Metódica twelve volumes is an outstanding but so far neglected enterprise. A first ready of them and, particularly, a detailed summary of those about Fábricas. artes y oficios, shows the main interest at the end of Carlos III's reign: the publication itself of this Encyclopedia is a good sign of this practice defense. The outline of a certain technical culture is revealed by this interesting "Spanish encyclopedism", that had not been undertaken and that the new story of the book allows to value better nowadays.
