The Historical Library of Santa Cruz of the University of Valladolid has in its custody a manuscript written during the second half of the 17th Century by a preacher linked to the Diocese of Calahorra and La Calzada, conceived with a clear intentionality homiletics. This paper analyzes the emblematic material which he used in support of his doctrine, with special protagonism to the Imprese Sacre of the Italian Bishop Paolo Aresi, along with other authors that make it a revealing text of the reach of Emblematic Literature in Spain and its utility in the service of Sacred Oratory in the Spanish Golden Age.
La Biblioteca Histórica de Santa Cruz de la Universidad de Valladolid custodia un manuscrito redactado durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVII por indicación de un religioso vinculado a la Diócesis de Calahorra y La Calzada con clara intencionalidad homilética. Este trabajo analiza el material emblemático al que recurrió en apoyo de su doctrina, con especial protagonismo para las Imprese Sacre del obispo italiano Paolo Aresi, al que se suman otros autores que lo convierten en un texto revelador del alcance de la literatura emblemática en España y de su utilidad al servicio de la oratoria sagrada del Siglo de Oro.
