Abstract
In recent years there has been much interest in the concept of innovation and its
relevance in the educational field. In fact, educational innovation has broadened its
perspective deepening beyond the physical architecture of spaces in which teaching and
learning take place, and strengthening the idea of creating new learning environments in
which pedagogical and psychosocial aspects are encompassed (Fraser and Fisher as cited in
Davies et al., 2013).
In this respect, and considering that educational innovation is still evolving, most
researchers in the field agree that in order to create successful learning environments,
educators should take a step forward, leaving their comfort zones aside and challenging
themselves to spark innovation within the classroom; being necessary to highlight the
willingness on the part of the teachers to explore and experiment with those new teaching and
learning spaces.
