Acercamiento a la paradoxografía griega: un género excepcional

Abstract

Esta pequeña contribución a la paradoxografía griega incidirá en los aspectos que definen el género y buscará su lugar dentro de los relatos fantásticos. El estudio será asentado sobre una base formada por el análisis y categorización de los fragmentos conservados y transmitidos, y se erigirá poco a poco hasta poner en duda el valor individual del corpus paradoxográfico sin dependencia de la literatura de evasión. Al término, y tras exponer las teorías acerca de su pervivencia, se intentará encontrar un lugar en la época actual para composiciones de tipo similar a los fragmentos, comparándolos con los géneros que ahora conviven.

The central thesis of this dissertation is the human necessity for an explanation for unidentifiable events which have been called specifically 'paradoxographycal fragments' by the experts. The text has been organised in the following way. First, an exploration will be accomplished through the available documents. Next, there will be an examination of the author's hypotheses to be able to understand the point of view of past ages. Finally, there will be a discussion of the same issues traced into our time, as a comparison between the old and the new. The results of this study indicate that even when we live under diverse conditions and in a different context, we still need to explain the things we do not know in some way; it is necessary to believe in something which provides a temporary solution. After all, that is the reason why we continue studying what surrounds us.
