La crisis generalizada de 2008 puso de manifiesto la necesidad de reformar el sistema financiero europeo y español, dotándolo de mayor regulación, seguridad y evitando que las quiebras de las entidades financieras afectasen a los contribuyentes de todo el país.
Este trabajo pretende analizar la situación del sector bancario español antes y después de la reforma que se hizo en dicho sector como consecuencia de la precaria situación que se estaba viviendo. Además se presenta el caso particular del Banco Popular como ejemplo de cómo se han aplicado en España los nuevos mecanismos de reestructuración y resolución de entidades financieras
The widespread crisis of 2008 highlighted the need to reform the European and
Spanish financial system, providing more regulation, security and preventing the
bankruptcies of financial institutions from affecting taxpayers across the country.
This research aims to analyse the situation of the Spanish banking sector
before and after the reform that was done in this sector as a result of the
precarious situation that was being lived. It also presents the particular case of
“Banco Popular” as an example of how the new mechanisms for restructuring
and resolving financial institutions have been implemented in Spain.
