dc.description.abstractLiterature has been contemplated throughout history as a possible means of language teaching; nevertheless, it has not been completely established in EFL classrooms as contrary points of view can be found regarding its implementation in the class, especially when referring to the Spanish education system. The intervention proposal presented in this paper is aimed to assess the value of including literary texts in the English teaching process as it has proven to reinforce the learning experience of the students, allowing them to grow both academically and personally. The relevance of selecting an appropriate writing that engages and motivates youngsters will be crucial in order to fulfill the students’ needs and expectations, thus young adult literature will be an adequate genre to appeal students since it speaks directly to them, making them question their current vision of the world and society surrounding them. This is expected to promote a critical thinking that prepares them to fight for a tolerant and respectful society.es
