La concepción de la guerra en Michael Walzer

Abstract

Tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial se reabren las discusiones sobre las antiguas teorías de la guerra justa. En esta línea Michael Walzer, hace un repaso a distintos sucesos bélicos, analizándolos y clasificándolos. Su teoría se basa en la analogía doméstica, equiparando a los Estados con los individuos. Intenta que los individuos, considerados dentro de una sociedad, hagan un análisis moral sobre participar en una guerra. También se preocupa de diferenciar entre combatientes y no combatientes, con especial protección a estos últimos. Para las intervenciones bélicas anticipatorias y humanitarias establece las condiciones para que sean justas. Para Michael Walzer, siempre que se den determinadas condiciones, una guerra es justificable. Crítico con Estados Unidos hace un repaso a la guerra de Vietnam y de Corea, muy impopulares para la opinión pública. No es ajeno a los sucesos actuales y por ello dedica un capítulo al terrorismo.
