Constancia y prudencia. El debate político en la Europa de las guerras de religión, 1560-1610

Abstract

Siguiendo las ideas del filósofo del siglo XX Ernst Cassier, durante el Renacimiento y la Reforma las verdades del pasado se derrumbaron, ocasionando una profunda crisis cultural e individual, la cual necesitó de un nuevo sistema para restaurar el sistema universal. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo esclarecer el momento de incertidumbre y confusión causado por la alteración de la anterior estructura cultural y política de la Edad Media y la creación de un nuevo orden social y político. Las guerras de religión en Europa a finales del siglo XVI fueron cruciales para el desarrollo de nuevas perspectivas en las que filósofos y pensadores intentaron comprender su tiempo mediante la recuperación y aplicación de filosofía antiguas, principalmente aquellas centradas en torno a la idea del estoicismo. En este trabajo analizaremos las aportaciones de determinados pensadores católicos a la filosofía política moderna con la finalidad de responder a los retos de esta nueva era.

Following the ideas of the XX century philosopher Ernst Cassirer, during the Renaissance and the Reformation the truths of the past crumbled, causing a deep cultural and individual crisis, which needed a new system to restore a universal system. The present work aims to clarify the moment of uncertainty and confusion caused by the disruption of the former cultural and political structure of the Middle Ages and the creation of a new social and political order. The wars of religion in Europe during the late XVI century where crucial in order to develop the new perspectives in which the philosophers and thinkers tried to understand their time by reclaiming and applying ancient philosophies, mostly those focused around the idea of stoicism. In this work we are going to analyze the contributions of certain catholic thinkers to the modern political philosophy in order to find answers to the challenges of this new age.
