Abstract
The new edition of the Novels of Leo VI the Wise by Spyros Troianos is perhaps a good occasion to review several arguments concerning the dating and constitution of this collection of 113 Novels which has long attracted the interest of scholars but of which no systematic study has been undertaken since those of Monnier and Spulber at the beginning of the 20th century. It is the purpose of this article to encourage such a study by proposing new arguments. In particular, we shall question the prevailing communis opinio, according to which Novels were published in 888, simultaneously with the Basilica. This dating of the Novels was first proposed by Andreas Schminck and supported by the analysis by the
late Marie Theres Fögen of its connection with the Basilica. Both articles were published in the same number of Subseciva Groningana some twenty years ago. [Texto extraído del artículo de Juan Signes Codoñer].
