El racionalismo moderno y el acero tubular: el equipamiento doméstico. Democratización del Fauteuil Grand Confort

Abstract

Este proyecto pretende democratizar un diseño histórico, el sillón Grand Confort de Le Corbuiser, Charlotte Perriand y Pierre Jeanneret, para ello se actualiza su forma, teniendo en cuenta el proceso de fabricación. Se busca adaptarlo a los nuevos medios de producción mediante el estudio de las diferentes formas en las que ha sido producido a lo largo de las últimas décadas y, por consiguiente, el entendimiento de sus posibles fallos. Este rediseño se dirige al usuario de hoy en día, y por ello, a un consumo más numeroso, lo que hace necesario rebajar los costes. Éste nuevo usuario es diferente de para el que fue concebido el sillón en un principio y es por eso por lo que primero debemos entender el origen de esta pieza, estudiando el contexto de su creación: el movimiento moderno en Francia en los años 20.

This project aims to democratize a historical design, the Grand Confort armchair by Le Corbuiser, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret, by updating its shape and taking into account the manufacturing process. Beside, pursues to adapt it to the new means of production by studying the different ways in which it has been produced over the last decades and, consequently, understanding its possible flaws. This redesign’s target is today’s user, and therefore, is aimed to reach a more numerous consumption, which makes it necessary to lower the costs. This new user is different from the one for whom the armchair was originally conceived and, therefore, we must first understand the roots of this piece, studying the context of its creation: the modern movement in France in the 1920s.
