Abstract
Trabajo y carretera” is a documentary-reportage that reports on the transport sector in Spain, and the labour market conditions of the people who work in this profession. Through interviews and testimonies, it attempts to explain why, in one of the economic activities that is fundamental for a society to function, every year more and more companies close and there is a lack of drivers. The audio-visual format was chosen, given the complexity of the subject, as it was necessary to illustrate it properly, recording the reality of these workers through authentic hand-held camera journalism.
In this Professional Degree Final Project, we show what a haulier's route is like, but also the way these workers live and must lead on the road, marked by job insecurity and the problems and risks they take on.
The aim is to delve into the routine of these drivers and the aspects that are often unknown to the public due to the scant information given about them. Thus, the report-documentary “Los olvidados. Trabajo y Carretera” becomes a form of denunciation, as we intend to give voice to these drivers who unfortunately feel forgotten by the rest of society.
